Mary Malinda Schmidt

October 11, 1946 - March 16, 2014


Mary Malinda Schmidt, age 67, passed away at Wood County Hospital on Sunday, March 16, 2014. She was born on October 11, 1946 to George Schmidt Jr. and Nina (Dyer) Schmidt in Kenton, Ohio. Mary was a graduate of Kenton High School. She worked for many years as a telephone operator for United Telephone. She enjoyed crocheting and all types of needlework, including spinning her own wool. Always interested in history, she was a member of the Henry County Historical Society, as well as Four Corners. Until her health began to fail, Mary was a Sunday School teacher and active member of First Church of Christ in Napoleon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, John. Always proud that she was the oldest of her siblings, Mary is survived by her brothers and sisters, James Schmidt, George (Tamara) Schmidt, Janet Schmidt, all of Napoleon, Virginia (Glen) Christian of Kentucky, and William Schmidt of South Dakota. She is also survived by 4 nephews; 4 nieces; 11 great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great niece.
Friends are invited to visit from 2pm to 8pm on Wednesday, March 19th at Walker Mortuary, Napoleon. Funeral Services will be held at 11am on Thursday, March 20th at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the First Church of Christ, Napoleon, Ohio, or to the donor's choice.
